Kanimozhi Visited pottery workshop
as part of the inspection tour of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, DMK Deputy General Secretary and Member of Parliament for Thoothukudi Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and the members of the Standing Committee visited a pottery making hall in Madurai- Tiruparangunram Circle, Vlacherry Panchayat. They met self-help groups producing traditional handicrafts including earthenware, clay idols, toys and lanterns under the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Movement. Subsequently, Kanimozhi MP received the petitions of artisans.

Vlacherry near Tiruparangunram, Madurai is famous for pottery. There are more than 300 pottery artisan families here. Here they are producing earthenware in eco-friendly clay. From Kanjikalayam, elaborate Swami idols are produced by hand.
